Description:
Lt. Shane Wolf (Vin Diesel) organizes his commandos to rescue a kidnapped American scientist, Howard Plummer (Tate Donovan) from Serbian rebels who are trying to capture his unique computer. During the rescue operation, Wolf and Plummer are confronted by a barrage of gunfire, which only Wolf survives.
Months later, Wolf is released from the hospital, clearly depressed by his failure. His C.O., Capt. Bill Fawcett (Chris Potter), assigns him to protect Howard Plummer's 5 children while their mother, Julie Plummer, (Faith Ford) goes to Switzerland with Capt. Fawcett to retrieve the contents of a safe-deposit box that her husband had opened there. Shane's task is to act as a baby-sitter and search for the location of Howard Plummer's computer program.
Shane meets the family. The youngest, Tyler (a baby), and the next youngest, Peter (a toddler), are being cared for by a nanny, Helga (Carol Kane), who soon leaves. The older children, Lulu (Morgan York), Zoe (Brittany Snow) and Seth (Max Thieriot), rebel against Shane's authority, possibly because of their father's death.
Expecting Julie to return in the next 48 hours, Shane installs security equipment, which is triggered by a boy who tries to secretly visit Zoe. The resulting noise causes the next-door neighbors, a North Korean couple named the Chuns (Denis Akiyama, Mung-Ling Tsui), to complain.
The next day, Shane assigns to the family the titles “Red Leader” (Helga), “Red One” (Zoe), "Red Two" (Seth), "Red Three" (Lulu), “Red Four” (Peter), and “Red Baby” (Tyler). He then clamps security bracelets on all of them.
