The movie opens in the fall where, after three pregnancy tests in Rollo's (Rainn Wilson) store, Juno MacGuff (Ellen Page) discovers she is twelve weeks pregnant by her close friend Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera). Juno and her father visit the affluent Lorings in their suburban home where the high-strung Vanessa is unsettled by Juno's sarcasm, but Juno and Mark form a bond over their shared musical interests. Mark reveals that he was once in a punk band but now writes commercial jingles. Juno teases him because Vanessa has boxed all his hobbies – Les Paul guitars, song writing, and comic books – to a single room in the house.

As he does so, he learns that his estranged wife, Stella (Melissa George), who moved out of town awhile ago, missed the last plane out of town and will have to spend the 30 day period in Barrow. Although they try to avoid one another, when Eben confronts The Stranger in the town diner, she helps subdue him and take him to the station house.

Cloverfield is very effective for what it is. The true pleasure of watching Cloverfield is akin to finding a message in a bottle. In this the case, the bottle is a video camcorder and the message is the content on the videotape. The film is the epitome of the YouTube Generation. The movie’s greatest irony is that watching a videotape on the big screen returns us to the pleasures of a shared communal experience. This is a movie that has to be seen in a crowded theater in order for it to be effective. I truly believe this movie will lose a lot on a small screen and especially watching it on a computer. I am not even sure if it will hold up on repeated viewings. Cloverfield is more an experience than an actual film. This is not a bad thing given the nature of the storytelling devices that director, Matt Reeves, and screenwriter, Drew Goddard, employ. By focusing on the human element aspect of the genre, we are thrown into the action when everything goes down. You want to know what it feels like to be that woman cradling her young children in the original Gojira or dazed and scared as the running crowds like in either version of War Of The Worlds; this movie puts you in the middle of that experience. Reeves accomplishes what John McTiernan claimed he wanted to do in Predator– put you in the middle of action. Reeves does this with incredible ease. Speaking of War Of The Worlds, this movie does an excellent job of creating a level of panic just as Steven Spielberg did with his remake in 2005. I find the first half of that film to be as scary as they come. Spielberg’s version captured the fear very well, just as Frank Darabont did in The Mist last year.

PC Games: The Neverhood

Description:

Never before has a game's window on its own secret world begged so colorfully and texturally for you to stick your hand right into the thick of it and start moving your character around. Were this by some as-yet invented medium actually possible, however, the design would backfire, for the ability to encircle little Klayman's neck and squeeze all of the animated life out of him in the last third of the game would make ever finishing it impossible. Which is not to say that finishing the game isn't impossible anyway. While exploring The Neverhood's early stages and solving its puzzles - which involve moving or rearranging items, making connections, and mimicking a tune - are a pleasure to work your way through, things take a serious turn for the worse the deeper you go. Kind of reminds me of the the Saturday Night Live "Mr. Bill".

The TV series The Dukes of Hazzard followed the adventures of two good old boys, Bo and Luke Duke, living in an unincorporated area of the fictional Hazzard County, Georgia, racing around in their modified 1969 Dodge Charger, The General Lee, evading corrupt Boss Hogg and his inept county sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane. Bo and Luke had been sentenced to probation for illegal transportation of moonshine - Uncle Jesse usually made the run, but had fallen ill, and on the very occasion that Bo and Luke had taken his place, they were caught. Jesse made a plea bargain to stop brewing moonshine in return for the boys to escape jail and be put on probation. As a result, Bo and Luke were not allowed to carry firearms (instead they used compound bows) or leave Hazzard County (although the exact details and jurisdiction of their probation terms often varied from episode to episode; sometimes, for example, it was implied that they would be jailed for merely crossing the county line; Other occasions it was shown that they may leave Hazzard as long as they were back within a certain time limit), usually granted by Boss Hogg.
